Youth Leadership Academy 2013 Application

OVERVIEW

The APALI Youth Leadership Academy is a college-level class exploring Asian American and Pacific Islander experience, community, civic engagement, and leadership.  The curriculum includes guest speakers, community tour, city-hall visit, a public policy project using online resources, and an alumni-organized graduation BBQ.  In addition to knowledge, student can gain a sense of personal empowerment. Graduates since 1999 have felt that "APALI is more than a class, it is an experience!"

CLASS INFORMATION

Instruction: This class is led by Dr. Michael Chang, Prof. Christine Chai, and seven Mentor Interns. 
Dates and location: July 2 to August 8, Tuesdays to Thursdays, 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Location: De Anza College
Course units (8 UC / CSU transferable units):

  • ICS 22 Contemporary Asian American Community Issues
  • ICS 27 Grassroots Democracy: Leadership and Power
  • SIGN-UP INSTRUCTIONS

    All applicants, including De Anza Students, are required to complete online APALI Application. Interested students are encouraged to apply early as class is expected to be full. Acceptance notification will be sent out after May 1 and students will pay fees to APALI and to De Anza College.

    Once notified by email that you have been enrolled in ICS 22 and ICS 27 by APALI, please make online payment immediately to De Anza College to avoid being dropped.
